Key to the rubbish-mounds of Oxyrhynchus: c.1900
A useful notebook provides the key to the numbers on the Grenfell-Hunt and conjectural plans of the site. It sets out in varying detail the dates when the different mounds were excavated or partly excavated, and occasionally gives some specific information about what was found there. The Ashmolean display shows the page relative to K 20, ‘Kôm Gamman’, one of the richest sources of important literary MSS. at the site, together with a modern transcription: as may be seen there, A. S. Hunt’s handwriting is not without its own problems!
