Biscuit tin: late nineteenth century
Grenfell and Hunt took biscuit tins such as this out to Egypt full of biscuits, and brought them back full of papyri. Was this the secret of their superior reading ability?
The tins served other purposes as the photograph of mummified crocodiles shows.
