Letter of the governor of Egypt: AD 209

(Stylistic parallel for a letter of 342.)

Part of a Berlin collection, a letter from the governor of Egypt in AD 209 announces the release of a criminal who had served his sentence of five years’ hard labour in the alabaster mines. Although this document and Ausonius’s letter are nearly a century and a half apart in date, the scripts are remarkably similar.
